Key Responsibilities

1 Database Management & Optimization

Install, configure, and manage Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or other databases .
Optimize SQL queries, indexing, partitioning, and database performance tuning .
Monitor database health, storage, and resource utilization .
Plan and implement database upgrades, patches, and migrations .

2 Backup, Recovery & Security

Implement backup and disaster recovery (DR) plans using tools like RMAN, PgBackRest, or SQL Server Backup.
Ensure data security, encryption, and compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, or other regulations .
Configure user roles, access controls, and authentication mechanisms .
Monitor and troubleshoot database replication, failover, and clustering issues .

3 High Availability & Scalability

Configure replication, clustering, and load balancing to ensure database reliability.
Implement sharding, caching, and horizontal scaling strategies for large datasets.
Work with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines and cloud database solutions (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL, etc.) .

4 Troubleshooting & Support

Diagnose and resolve database performance bottlenecks, deadlocks, and slow queries .
Support developers with query tuning and best practices .
Provide database documentation, guidelines, and training to technical teams .
