Job Description : What I am responsible for : - Technical leadership of one particular technical area/domain within a portfolio e.g. Service provider domain. Mandatory technical skills required : 1. BGP, MPLS, MPLS/VPN, VRF lite. 2. Multicast protocols: PIM SM and SSM. 3. Multicast over MPLS/VPN (MVPN). 4. QoS for both LAN WAN environments. 5. Network address translation.
-To provide analytical and innovative input to design/support projects undertaken by the frontline designers (TDs) - Assists team members in transformation strategy for a network or technology discipline in own area of expertise - Could lead on a specific deliverable of a medium/complex scale project within a work package - To champion and specify the use of BTs strategic Choices for Design Tools, Systems and Templates across various teams - Lead the initiatives in looking for efficiencies in designs through use of patterns and templates, rather than bespoke requests - Reviews deliverables like complex technical designs produced by the team correct them where necessary - May indirectly manage lead people (functional lead) to deliver specific tasks or projects guide them around his area of expertise - Coaching and Mentoring of TDs. Encourages knowledge sharing work out plans to realize it. Justifies training requests in terms of expected benefits for the individual and the organization - Audit review deliverables produced by frontline designers. Identify issues, if any suggest corrective preventive measures - Work with local global quality teams to provide inputs for CI programs - Interact with SMEs in other hubs and Global team - Developing and Maintaining TDA skills. Developing ALP training. Identification and mitigation against short falls in technical skills to enable the delivery in Global and Regional Teams - Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures around day to day work - Drive standardization across hub to ensure operational procedures are in place, maintained and followed as appropriate - Work with technical delivery managers (TDMs) to define and champion the use of Technical Standards, Procedures and Best Practice - Help in managing the allocation of right resources against the planned levels of demand against time, cost and specification. Helping TDM during effort estimation of work packages - Provide input to the recruitment of resources required to meet future demands for delivering against planned demands and objectives of design hub - Challenges way of operating with a focus on pragmatism; encourages, solicits and rewards innovative ideas; delegates, coordinates and motivates teams into reaching challenging goals - Undertake work outside of direct responsibility when required on behalf of the leadership team. Act as technical arm of CDH management team.
-Supports the business improvement initiatives involving local global design hub teams - May involve liaising with internal, external and third party suppliers - To personally participate in and contribute to BT wide professional community activities where applicable e.g. knowledge sharing, best practice within BT and external industry - Undertake work outside of direct responsibility when required on behalf of the leadership team - Should have strong desire to learn catch up with new products, technologies services in the field of data networking - Self-driven professional able to handle technical/team escalations Measures : - Demonstrate effective technical leadership and ownership of complex customer networks issues - Provides evidence of engagement with the global wider team/stakeholders in helping to provide robustness and consistency of approach - Provides evidence of supporting a wider understanding and compliance with e.g. operating model, LD, PDP inputs etc.
-Provides evidence of understanding and adherence to BTs and CDH specific quality standards, procedures and SLAs - Produces relevant documentation to the necessary quality gate level in support of end to end deliverables, designs, procedures etc. where required - Contributes to the defining of clear and stretching deliverables/objectives for self and others in line with advertised CDH dashboard. Executes defined deliverables to meet success criteria within Work Packages - Demonstrates the ability to articulate clearly the requirements, solutions and timescales whilst managing expectations as evidenced through time, cost and assignment feedback - Provides evidence of contribution to knowledge calls and Focus Groups/Forums. Contributes to the strategic direction of the Professional Community.
