Summary of Role:
Responsible as a senior developer in the team for :
- Enhancing and maintaining highly performant, mission critical Erlang based payments system.
- Build new features as required by customer/product management from time to time to enhance performance, scalability and add on requirements in line with technical designs, and to deliver applications into test and production environment successfully.
Job Description
Reporting to the Development Manager, the duties and accountabilities of the role are :
- Work closely with the team members of the Development/Architecture/product in the enhancement and maintenance of payment systems application.
- Work with Product/Development managers/Operations Team to ensure code is developed according to the agreed requirements and timelines.
- Ensure code is developed to agreed Quality standards, Design principles ,Coding Standards and Enterprise Architecture.
- Contribute to development designs and the development process.
Ensure code is successfully unit tested before delivery to central test.
- Accountable to the Development Manager and team lead for delivery of the above.
Experience and skills required
- 5 Years ' experience in core development using Erlang/OTP
- Strong understanding of Erlang programming, OTP, Mnesia
- Advanced Erlang (scaling, distribution, deployment, management, performance tuning)
- Understanding of Erlang VM,Erlang runtime system schedulers and configuration
- Erlang profiling, tracing and debug tools experience including troubleshooting of performance and scalability problems in high volume systems
- Working Knowledge of few libraries for Erlang e.g. Mochiweb, erlsom,elogger, yaws, meck ,rabbit etc.: Desirable
- Experience with Dialyzer, Release Handling, analysing crash dumps
- Experience writing Eunits and acceptance tests
- Troubleshoot and occasionally patch Erlang Open Source modules and applications.
- Knowledge in TCP/IP, HTTP
- Understanding of RabbitMQ and IBM MQ or any other messaging product.
- Strong distributed systems experience in creation of concurrent distributed components
- Experience of developing low latency, highly available and scalable solutions
- Experience of working in an environment with high volumes of transactions
- Basic understanding and working knowledge of Unix/Linux commands and shell scripting
- Good understanding of different deployment practices and Continuous Integration (Jenkins)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experienced with supporting the functional, automation and Non:functional test teams responsible for testing the Erlang application
- Good understanding of Ansible (Desirable)
- Experience in working with Agile Scrum development teams, Agile Scrum principles and Agile delivery management tooling such as Atlassian JIRA
