The Uttar Pradesh State Open School Board UPSOSB is dedicated to providing quality education up to the secondary level for educationally disadvantaged students in Uttar Pradesh. Aiming to integrate girls and children from weaker sections of society into mainstream education, the Government of Uttar Pradesh replaced Patrachar Shiksha Sansthan Allahabad with the UPSOSB in 2008 through an Act known as The Uttar Pradesh State Open School Board Act, 2008 U.P Act No. 27 of 2008, passed by the Uttar Pradesh Legislature on 29 August 2008.
Mission and Objectives
The UPSOSB serves as a bridge between the government and rural or backward classes, functioning as an autonomous body to promote and disseminate education at both the state and national levels. The board strives to:
&bull Rapidly transform rural outreach.
&bull Provide support to SC/ST/OBC/General students, dropouts, over-aged individuals, and other weaker, marginalized, and deprived sections of society.
&bull Promote the upliftment of disadvantaged groups and women, regardless of caste, creed, color, religion, or language.
&bull Eradicate poverty and illiteracy, fostering self-dependence through social, cultural, health, educational, and economic advancements.
